Animated audio slideshow on homelessness

Project info: At a young age Ashley ended up on the street at a young age. In a podcast, made by journalism students, the Dutch woman explains the impact of being homeless and stereotypes and stigmas she had to deal with.

For Het Beelddepot – The Image Depot – I revisited Ashley to talk about the the past and the steps she took to get out of her dire situation and created an animated audio slideshow on the past and present.

Growing list of recent and classic interactive, multimedia, visual stories by international news agencies, media organisations, platforms, ngo’s, videographers, designers, photographers and artists (work in progress).

The list contains classic examples of interactive games like FortMcMoney, the mother of all photo slide shows ‘1 in 8 million’ by New York Times and more recent well crafted photo series like Urban Quilombo and Gaza Surf Club.

Don’t take ‘blessed’ too serious. The list serves as an inspiration for my work as freelance multimedia maker when concepting and developing interactive, video and photography stories. Hope it serves you too.

OSINT meets UX on Gaza

Simple and superb example of smart OSINT meeting straightforward UX by Airwars. It claims to be the largest analysis of air strikes by Israeli forces on Gaza from October 7th to November 7th 2024. Scroll down the Strip and find out where air strikes took place and what they looked like.

For more context and data – many reports of civilians being killed – Airwars links to ‘full incident reports’. It’s dark, it’s unpolished, in black and white and orange, probably referring to the color of flares used in combat.
