When pictures are put in motion, things get even more impactful. Its ability to hit the heart as well as the head is what I love about video. Frame by frame video takes you on a journey through storyland.
I work as a freelance video editor, editing videos and making video animations for NGO’s, media and the creative industry, like War Child, RNW Media, Perspectief, RNTC, Utrecht University and others.
Project info: Without photojournalism we lose sight of things that are happening in the world. On January 25th more that 450 Dutch photojournalists were on strike. On this day the involved photographers did not take photographs, nor did they deliver their pictures to photo and news agencies. This campaign called ‘Fotolozevrijdag’ or ‘Picturefreefriday’ was organized by the Dutch professional association and trade union for journalists, NVJ, to advocate for better rates and more appreciation of the craftsmanship of photojournalists.
I made this short social media video to create awareness of the plight of photojournalist. And shared it using #fotolozevrijdag and #fotojournalistiekheefteenprijs.
The video was published on Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. The video was played more than 5,700 times and reached more than 19,000 people (stats of 29-01-2019) .

Project info: Customers of ASN Bank explain why they support War Child by having a savings account “against arms industries”. The story is a combination of portrait photography, an audio interview, video and photo animation. I did both the portrait shots and the interview and turned these ingredients into a short animated web video.

Project info: Video animation made for Slachtoffer in Beeld, a Dutch NGO organizing contact and mediation between victims and perpetrators of crimes as an act of restorative justice. The video production highlights the activities organized by the organisation in 25 prisons in The Netherlands. Due to privacy reasons only snippets of the original animation are shown in this video.
